Point taken. I guess I start with the basic assumption that anyone willing to invest in tools and get into this hobby likely already has mechanical aptitude. That's where the other 10% comes in - doing homework, research, asking questions, getting help, and admitting you're over your head sometimes.

Your point about F bodies and repair shops......applies to any and all cars. There's lots and lots of shops out there where the people couldn't buy a clue about anything.
I agree. As I previously mentioned, I've been at this for 45 years, and YES, even I made a mistake or two along the way, usually by jumping into something I hadn't done before, and without experienced guidance.

OK, I see where you're at. I consider ball joints and bushings to be "wear out" items, and usually replace them around 50,000 miles, so at 95K, I see your need for replacement.....BUT, I'm doing the labor, and just paying the cost of the parts.....

I had never felt anything as great as my car felt with new bushings throughout. I'd also save yourself the hassle and just get new upper and lower arms, especially since you're getting the "thunk" on bumps as that's exactly what mine did. It may be a pricey upgrade, but you'll never mess with it again. Further, so long as you get adjustable lowers, you'll be able to get an alignment dead on with what you want. BMR or UMI, you can't go wrong, but I'm partial to the latter
