A quote from you richards. The springs are from summit racing 292lbs. Or "ss" springs. Slight up grade from the z28. The monrores are pretty decent for what I want right now. Please refrain from your bashing of others. The BMR parts have helped out substantialy they're not just flashy. Sorry I haven't had time between my three deployments in the marine corps to put a set of 500 dollar konis on.
You clearly need to do some research.
All (non 1LE) LS1 cars had 292lbs/in springs. You bought the exact same springs that you had before.
Next, monroes are garbage for performance for 4th gen fbodies. They have a slit cut in their piston to purposely let oil pass through for a "softer" ride, this is similar to how a "blown out" shock would act.
You could have bought something like the said Koni's instead of all the parts you have now and would have had all around better performance on otherwise stock suspension because of it (yea its true), been there, done that. Newbie mistakes.
Good shocks are the single best suspension mod you can do, they are the foundation to a setup.

Learning the hard way. Later on when I have time to make it to the track I'll upgrade the shocks. The Monroe's are paid for and will do just fine for now. As to the spring rates it depends on the year and trim of your car. Not all non 1le ls1 got the same spring rates.

Okay you guys got me thinking. Do I really need the front control arms with poly. The car is not my everyday driver. I also have a passat. However I don't plan on auto x. Would it be that much more benifitial to just get new stock ball joints, sell the BMR fronts and get a set of nice schocks. These newbie mistakes are starting to get to me. I do plan to hit the drag track a couple times a year. I'm keeping the stock ride height as well.

You may be surprised how inexpensive the Koni Str.t's are

Well you already have them and due to the nature of selling parts used you would never get near what you payed for them if you tried to sell them, go ahead and roll with what you have but plan for better shocks when you can, I believe we are still in Koni's yearly 25% off sale period right now.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspensio...-sale-now.html
https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspensio...ials-back.html

so now would be the time if you have the funds, otherwise roll with what you have and plan for the upgrade of shocks next year around this time.

just for future reference or anyone that may come across this thread the front tubular control arms are typically considered the last thing to change in the suspension and are generally mainly for weight reduction or adding adjustment to the alignment the factory parts can't achieve that are generally only used by auto-x or drag strip racers.

So I just looked at them. Definitely in the budget. Are the SRT.t's a decent upgrade. Again mostly street use with a couple quarter passes

Just put the order into BMR. 323 doll hairs. Hope its as worth while as you guys say. I'm sure I'll have some more questions. Wish I would have thought to ask about shocks instead of assuming.

Don't worry, it's worth it by far. The Koni Str.t's at that price for all 4 corners is incredible. Just FYI, I bought my car with Monroe Sensa-tracs in the rear of my camaro, I don't know if that's what you have or not but I took them out and when I had them fully extended, the shocks would slowly fall back down by themselves! I took both my hands and could start from full extension on the shocks, push them to fully compressed and then bring them back out to full extension (just by my hands) in less than a second. It was insanely bad handling and very dangerous to drive with those on. Koni Str.t's are probably one of the best non adjustable shocks you can buy, and they're not expensive at all, if you do the labor yourself

Yeah I have the sensatrac in the back. I'll definitely be putting them in my self. The back is super easy to do. The front not so much but I can handle it. One of the pictures shows the shop we have access to with an old guy who was a chassis expert. Doesn't seem like he's up to speed on much new stuff.

Correct that not all 1LE cars got the same springs, however the 292lbs springs were the base model springs, the SS and WS6 also got these springs depending on options. The only other front springs available to my knowledge for the LS1 Fbody was the 360lbs/in 1LE springs.

DO IT!!! I need a set. I think the market is there as I don't think anybody want to put a rusty part back on when there putting all the shiny bmr parts on.

Decided to update. I'm going to use my stock lower control arms and repaint them. Bought new bushings and ball joints from Moog. Still going to use the BMR upper control arm up front. I'm not so worried about the poly up top on the street. Haven't got the konis delivered yet. As soon as I'm up and walking better I hope to get this project done and move on to the next.

Got the rear str.t shocks installed and wow what a difference. Can't wait to tackle the fronts tomorrow with new bushings. Thanks for the advice to not use the gabarge monrore sensatrac.
