Default Wore out Eibach prokit?

I just recently procured a 99 WS6 that has been sitting for at least 5 years with no driving. I just got it running Monday and have noticed a few things while driving. First off, its got an Eibach Pro-Kit (just springs). As far as I know the shocks are stock on this 16 year old car. When I hit even the slightest bump, the car sounds like its bottoming out. I'm just curious about whether I should just have the shocks replaced, or go ahead and ditch the Eibach springs as well and go with Koni or something else? This is a daily driver, no track time, just cruising and the occasional street race. Thanks for the help.

Honestly the Eibach prokit lowering springs are mediocre at best. They have a terrible ride quality especially when used with factory shocks and tend to sag over time so your car will continue to lower over time. I would ditch the Eibach springs and go with a higher quality set of spring like our BMR one and team them up with a good quality set of shocks. Since you aren't planning on doing anything crazy with the car I would recommend either the Bilstein shocks or the Koni STR.T shocks. Here is a link to a thread off of here where a guy installed our BMR lowering springs and Koni STR.T shocks and needless to see he was very, very happy.

Looking at your site I've got my eye on the level 2 or level 3 suspension package. Thanks for the help. I've got to save a few pennies, I've spent a bundle just getting this car running and driving.

Another issue with the LS1 Pro-Kit is that the spring rates are to low.

Yeah I'd vote stock over pro-kit. I had a pro-kit on my '94 v6 while I was in highschool, now I see the error of my ways.

Yeah, when I first lowered my Z28 back in 2000 I had the LT1 Pro-Kit, the front springs were fine and had plenty of spring rate, but the rears were horrible an constantly slammed the rear bump-stops. I even had one of the spring actually bent after a few years.

Well I live in Houston and didn't feel like doing everything myself when its 9000* outside so I had a shop put my shocks and springs on. Holy cow the car rides like a dream. I didn't realize how much of a difference it would be. Now I've got a new problem though. They found that the front sway bar bracket was broken. I went to all the part stores around and nobody has one. Any leads on this? Thanks.

Proper parts make a hell of a difference don't they?

For the swaybar bracket, do you mean the mount with the D-bushing?

Or is it the body bracket that the mount actually bolts into?
Or is it the endlink?

I need the frame mount with the D bushing ( the part circled in the picture). No parts stores carry it, and the only one Summit carries is the UMI one that's 100 bucks. My WS6 has a 32mm sway bar right?

Yup, 32mm front bar.
I was actually going to suggest the UMI part, as I don't know of any other ones out there that you can buy without buying the swaybar too.

And since I just got one of those nice boxes from BMR I have a question for all in this thread including BMR; if you read up on this subject on this forum, it seems its common for almost any lowered fbody to hit the bumpstops at some time, yes or no?

Yeah you'll hit the rear bump stops more often, especially with the softer rear spring like the Eibach Pro-Kit has. Just make sure your rear bump stops are in good condition, and remove the rear spacers IF it has them.

Yes, hitting the bumpstops is completely normal, there's a reason they are there even with factory shocks/springs. I had stock springs with blown shocks and I could push my rear down onto my bumpstops just with my hands! That was with a 2.5ish inch distance between the bumpstops and axle. I'm now lowered with good shocks and I'm about 1 inch from the bumpstops and axle, I hit my bumpstops less often and I can't push the rear of my car down onto them anymore. Good shocks are the key my friend, with stock springs or lowering springs
