Default My Silverado is driving me NUTS!!

I have a 2008 Silverado and its in real good shape.. The only problem with it is I have a front end clunk/clatter when I go over bumps or uneven roads.. Sounds like it's under the floor pan on the driver side.. Idk what it can be but it's driving me insane.. Has anyone out there experienced this with your truck? Help..

Mine used to clunk while turning over speed bumps, it was the ball joints. Try jacking up the front end and moving the tire around with a pry bar. If there's any movement, you've got worn suspension stuff.

Thanks I'll give a look over but I think if it was the ball joints the truck would have came apart by now because it's kinda sounds like something it real loose..

Have you crawled under there and looked? If you have traditional steering, there are tons of joints under there that can clunk (inner tie rod, outer tie rod, pitman arm, idler arm). Mine had 190k on them, and I had lots of shot parts that were like limp noodles. I also had a ball joint where the ball stud moved up and down. After replacing everything with Moog stuff, clunk is gone.

I have this same truck with the exact issue. I am going to redo my front suspension soon hoping the clunk will go away. I too figured it was a ball joint as oppose to a bushing.

The truck has rack and pinion.. These newer trucks are setup like sports cars in the front just on a larger scale lol... But I'm going to deeply investigate this issue starting tomorrow morning..

Check your torsion bar xmember bushings! They're replaceable, but you have to drill out the rivets on the x member. There's vids on YouTube I'm sure.

You mean you're not experiencing the old steering shaft chunk?

If OP can feel it in the wheel that could be it, but to my understanding he feels it right under himself.

I've been hearing about this issue also.. But I wonder how can a metal shaft go bad?

The shaft itself doesn't go bad. It's a collapsible shaft and GM used a compression grease on the splines of the shaft the eliminate the knocking of the two metals. Over time the grease breaks down and the clunk comes back. GM used to offer a service kit for the shaft but I don't think it's available any longer.
