Default Steering Wheel.. Why?

I just don't get it......

Why is my steering wheel not straight.

I purchase my SS about 2 years ago it was all stock then without a single modification. At this time the steering wheel was centered though after dropping car into BMR springs and the alignment my steering wheel now tilt more to the left. I thought the problem was the shock so just last week I upgraded all shocks to Belsteins and also got an alignment. And nothing really changed. Does anyone know why the steering wheel no longer center? FYI I don't swing my car at all

Sounds like the whole steering column has come lose, theres two bolts under there that center it and keep it from moving.

Unless something has broken in the column, or the connection at the steering rack has loosened, whoever has done your alignments hasn't taken the time to properly "center" the steering wheel. It's a simple thing to do, part of doing a PROPER alignment, and something that's often glossed over when an alignment is done......

when you lowered it that caused the alignment to go out which in turn caused the steering wheel alignment to be off. However, when you had it aligned the they should have centered the steering wheel to do the alignment. I would take it back to the place you had the alignment done and get them to redo it.

Maybe.....

If the car was aligned properly, before lowering, and in the case of a 4th gen f-body, if the lower a-arm isn't moved during the spring change, the alignment will change....However, the change should be equal on both sides, therefore the toe setting, while being off, will be off equally on both sides, therefore the steering wheel's position will not change.....

Where did you take it to get an alignment? Took mine to les schwab couple of times and it never felt right. Finally after taking it to a specialist my car drives dead straight. A good alignment is just as important as shocks/springs.
