polyurethane rear upper shock bushing

Question polyurethane rear upper shock bushing

experiencing some brake hop with my rear KONI/Strano set-up and was told to tighten down the upper rear shock mount bushing some more. seeing as the bushing is already pretty tightened down, would it be a good/bad idea to put polyurethane bushings in this area? the upper rear shock mount bushing. Thanks

That's not what I'd recommend.

What situations are you seeing the brake hop?
Are you running a really aggressive pad on the back?
Do you have really fat tires on the back?
Do you have LCA relo brackets?
Is your pinion angle way off?

It is hopping under heavy braking. I have stock ls1 rear brakes with C5 front brakes. 275s all the way around. No lca relocation brackets. Stock torque arm with poly bushing. Stock pinion angle. Thanks

Sounds like the issue may be with your TA. Your pinion angle is no longer stock since you lowered the car and don't have an adjustable TA.

Just "for the hell of it", I installed polyurethane bushings on the top of my shocks, MANY years ago. Didn't make any noticeable difference....probably because the shock is free to expand/collapse on it's own, so any difference in the firmness of this action won't be perceptible from the driver's seat.

If you have the factory trans mount, check it. They tear apart. If the trans can shift around, your torque arm will also move around causing brake hop.

What brake pads are you running?

i have a factory trans mount but it is new. Prothane motor mounts and a new poly torque arm bushing.

HAWK HPS in the front and stock in the rear. usually the problem with these cars is too much rear brake, but mine are stock and I've increased the front braking force with the C5 conversion.
