Default QA1 Shock Issue

Recently bought some qa1 shocks from a member here. Went to install them today and noticed the top (stud?) of the shock will not fit through the center of the factory upper shock mounts (the big rubber shoe,) therefore i cannot thread the nut on. Do you guys who have em already usually have to bore out that center hole some? Also, a buddy was messing with it trying to make it work and i think he may stripped the threads on said stud. Anyone know if they sell a replacement? (its the dark piece at the top in the attached picture) Emailed QA1 but of course this happens on the weekend. Thanks again guys.

Well, talked to the guy I bought the shocks from and he said he didn't have to do anything to the upper strut mount to make the qa1's fit through them, so maybe the strut mounts were changed on my car at some point, and whatever brand they are have a smaller hole?
