Default removing spring seat from bilstein level 1 front shock

on a front bilstein shock, from the SLP level 1 suspension 2002 camaro ss,
I want to get the spring seat off the shock.
The shock has a retaining... thing, preventing the seat from sliding up off the shock. not sure if it is a "gland nut", pics of that don't look like what is on the factory installed bilstein, so not sure if i need the spanner wrench tool to remove it. Anyone know how to remove it?
I forgot to take a pic, best i can do from the web is this
It is what is the end cap in this pic, preventing the spring perch from sliding up off the shock

a picture of what you are talking about will most likely get you more accurate responces. I, myself have no idea what you are referring to. I use bilstein and koni on my cars.

What is the part number of the shock you are asking about?

Yes, you won't be able to get the perch off with the end cap still on. You just have to whack the end cap off.

That cap Is just hammered on. It's a tight fit so it probably will be fun to get off but a hammer and a flat head screwdriver should work.

after i realized i already destroyed the shock cutting the mount off with my sawzall,
i was less of a puss and the bump cap came off pretty easy with regular hammer and a screw driver.
