Hey guys I'm trying to find the Upper control arm brackets for my 97 z28.. does anyone have the part number or know where to get them? It's the top part not the actual control arm. Mines rusted through pretty good.
I had to find some in a local junkyard recently...i dont think anyone sells them including the dealer. You might be able to find some used ones in decent shape on ebay or something

IMO - account for the moisture and rust that accumulates in the cavity. No place for moisture to go. I've thought about adding a grease zerk so one can add grease into the cavity.
I used POR15 on them last time I had them apart when installing tubular upper control arms. But that was 9 years ago. Don't know what they look like now.
I had this problem recently and had to find some used ones. I'm surprised there's no aftermarket support as its a common part to go bad and seems relatively simple to make for a big part manufacturer... being its pretty much all stamped sheet metal. I'm glad someone is looking into making replacement alternatives.
I actually submitted a product request to dorman about it a while back with hope they would consider making stock replacements. Never heard anything from them.
I ended up getting some off eBay and got them powdered coated hoping it helps keep them in good shape for a while. It was 45 to have them powder coated.
IMO the problem with rust accumulating is because there are no drain holes in the depressions where the rubber contacts the metal. Waterproof grease in that area would also help when installing replacements.
POR 15 works too, but perhaps not as good as powder coating.
The important step when reconditioning is to etch the metal to neutralize the rust. If you don't both POR15 and powder coating will lift where there is rust. Jasco really works well.
