Default Coil over shocks...

Are coil over shocks recommended for daily driven bbc 1970 chevelle? Currently has upgraded front and rear control arms, sway bars and GC steering box. Also, I understand UMI now has a bolt-in rear bar for running coil over shocks...Does the A-arms require mods?
Thanks

Hello,

If you can give us a shout and we are happy to help.

A coilover shock can be the same as a normal shock when it comes to ride quality etc. The benefit is you are getting the ability to adjust the vehicles ride height. In racing we can also use it to corner balance the car.

We have three options for the 70 Chevelle. We sell and use a lot of Viking coilovers, they are bolt in on the front and will mount to factory a-arms. They have a few spring rate options and allow the height to be changed. A front kit is around $550 with the wrenches and bearings. The rear kits require a little more, we build the bracket kit here at UMI and include viking shocks with the kit. You can then adjust rear ride height along with the front. A total kit front to rear is around $1,400.

The least expensive option is a set of UMI valved monotube shocks and a pair of high performance lowering springs. These items together offer a modern day ride and feel compared to older set ups. We can do a it like this in 1" lowering or 2" lowering for $800. We have tons of photos of cars at these height too we can share.

The 3rd option is the same as the above kit but we give you our 20-way adjustable UMI monotube shock that allows rebound adjustment for track days and handling. This kit with the 4 adjustable shocks is around $1,220.

Let us know know some thoughts and we are happy to help get that 70 setup

I would avoid the Vikings since they are not gas charged for a DD.
