Default Brake upgrades?

I have a set of 17inch torque thrus rims and 2002 ws6 stock brakes, was wondering what would be a good upgrade for these rims to clear the calipers?

What car? LS1 Fbody?
What do you use the car for? Street driving? Autox? Road courses? Drag?

If its a street car then good blank rotors, and good pads will be more than enough to overwhelm street tires.

For street I like Hawk HPS pads, got 100k miles out of my last set. Centric/stop tech rotors are good and cheap too.

What would a suggestion be for calipers. My calipers are all rusted looking and instead of painting them I would rather buy some with better performance

Again what car? 4th gen Fbody?

What are you using it for? Street driving?

Clean and paint the calipers, doing aftermarket calipers on these car is major overkill for street driving. The stock calipers (especially in the rear) have more than enough stopping power to lock up street tires. What you need is a good set of brake pads. I know you just want to hear "buy these calipers they are great and bolt right on!" but that just isn't the case in reality. Save your money, get a good set of pads, blank rotors and clean your stock calipers, I guarantee you will be surprised and happy with how it turns out if you do it right.

this. either clean up the calipers you have or get a set of new OEM calipers and paint those. no need to spend the money on upgraded calipers for street use.

First thing I would do is some stainless steel braided flex lines for a firmer pedal feel. I use ones from Goodridge.

I agree with AMG... good PADS do wonders for what you want. More bite, more fade resistance, etc.
Also, IMO, stainless steel lines DO NOT make your pedal feel much better. They are a waste of money. Don't change your stock ones unless they are in need of replacement.

I have to lol, as the pedal feel change was immediately noticeable after I changed rubber to braided stainless steel on both my Camaros.

How many cars have you replaced these lines on w/SS braided? The feel change may also depend on how old the car/lines are.

Feel could also depend on how old and dirty the fluid was.

It depends on what you want?

Upgrade over stock: then go with a set of brembo calipers and stingray rotors, direct bolt on replacement for a couple hundred bucks and it'll transform how it stops.

upgrade stock: then do the aforementioned posts above and it'll still feel stock but slightly better for a hundred bucks or so.
