Unhappy Squealing Brakes - Oh so annoying

My 2k Trans Am front brakes on the passenger side squeal loudly when I apply brakes in the 25 - 35mph range. It is constant whether I stop gradaully or quickly. Hot or cold no matter.

Steps I tried to correct problem with:
1. Installed new Raybestos rotors & quiet stop pads (ceramic)
2. Put the the omni-directions swirls on both.
3. Checked & lube the calipers.
4. Seasoned brakes w/ the short and fast stops (Baer site).
5. Appiled anti-squeal GOO - yuck
6. Re-checked clips all new of course.

7. Going to put a couple 100 miles on it this weekend.

8. Ask you fine folks for any helpful suggestions. I have searched the forums for simliar cases with no luck. Please help me!!!

I never use Raybestos products, they always make noise.
But it sounds like there is a piece of lining material stuck between the pad and rotor. Take a look at the rotor and see if there are any noticeable grooves showing. If so, take those pads out, and lightly sand them. Then re-install. Also check for any clearance issues between the rotors and mounting bracket or anything else for that matter. If there is any rust anywhere, remove it.

Didn't see any major grooves in the rotors. Sanded the pads down anyways and 2 cans of break cleaner. New rotors and pads, so no big rust spots, yet. I will try again tomorrow. Maybe shim? Running out of ideas short of new new pads. Thx Tech

my brakes squeaked after i installed my eradi rotors and hawk pads.

i put some high temp caliper grease on the outside of the pad where the pistons contact.

the squeaking went away

might work for you

Jamie33,

Kudos, to you sir. Caliper grease between pad and rotor seems to have solved the problem. I will continue testing but I would have to say the squeakie wheel got the grease.

Thx

Not between the rotor and pad!!!!! It goes between the pad and the piston!
