I called Dorman 3 weeks ago on this bar and was told it’s actually 19mm. I know the website says 22 but there is a mention of 19 which is why I called.
I’d love for someone to actually measure one and find out which it is.

You are right. The Doorman site only mentions 19mm. I just checked Amazon and they say 22.2mm. weird, someone is probably messing up cuz 22.2 sounds like a random number.

Perhaps the bare bar is 19mm, and the paint coating is 1.6mm thick?

Perhaps. But that would be a lot of paint.

Yes, 19 mm is stock but at some point I believe there was a 22 mm option from the factory which is why it possibly made sense that Dorman would make a 22 mm.

There was never a 22mm from GM. There was a 21mm and it was not on a lot of cars. There was a 23mm on 3rd gens too, some but not many.

And only in 1993. 94+had the 19mm. The only exception were the Bilstein ultra suspension cars The last two years. Those cars also had 21 mm rear bars.
