This is the picture (borrowed from here) I was gonna use to put my stuff together. If yours are flat they will need rotated close to the same position as the old shock.

I tried to rotate the suncore ones I received but they did not even want to rotate. I stuck a thick phillips screwdriver in one of the mounting holes to try and rotate it but it didn't want to go. I was gradually bending the screwdriver and didn't want to snap it and risk getting injured.

Might have to put the tab in a vise and try and rotate it by pushing on the shock end.

yea I got no table vice at the moment (just moved into my house) and no work bench. I went ahead and returned it and went on rockauto for a different brand and hopefully the tab is rotated correctly and not off angled.

See if u have the space to bolt it to the lower arm first, then rotate it using the shock as your leverage now

I tried this but not a whole lot of room with the fenderwell and the 2 studs that are on the top mount. that's with the LCA angled down as far as it can go without ripping the brake hose

you could unbolt the upper assembly ....arm, plate...etc......let it fall back to have more room to the lower shock bolts .....bolt up shock and rotate it til its where it needs to be.......my shock had this problem but I used a vice

well when the description says complete strut and spring assembly is "plug and play", its not always that. the OSC I bought from rockauto afte ri returned the suncore brand to advance auto parts also had the same issue with the 2 lower holes for the LCA at an off angle. I went to advance auto parts for the strut/spring compressor loaner tool but all they carried were this:

^ how would this fit in a coilover/strut setup?

so I went to autozone of all places and they actually had the loaner tool I was more accustomed to:

so I had to compress the spring and loosen the top mount bolt and rotate the coilver/strut so it was aligned to how the OEM was. basically some of these complete coilover/strut assembly were positioned reversed when they were assembled.
