Default New calipers barely clear, problem?

Went ahead and did the ATS Brembo retrofit to my 01 WS6 with factory 17 inch wheels and used the Eibach Pro spacer kit in the 15mm size. They clear but what looks and feels like a hair, to a point where it makes me nervous. Do I need to worry, or should I consider adding another 1-2mm spacer into the mix, swapping out for the 20mm set, or is there another recommendation? I'm extremely happy with the new calipers from a performance standpoint, and they look great as well.

If it clears it won’t move at all your fine if not I believe the smallest spacer I’ve seen is 3mm - mine are really tight too

Just checked and I can get a single credit card between the wheel and the tightest point on the caliper, so I think its less than 1mm of clearance.

If you ever really corner hard there is a possibility of touching, not everything is so solid in place, stuff flexes. If your wheel hubs get some play, it'll touch sooner or later. I would not even drive on street with that little gap, and never autocross. A single 20mm spacer is def better than 15+3 or +5 etc, but if you're on a budget it's better than not doing it. Everyone has their own level of comfort/confidence, I err on the side of more confidence.

Great tip, thanks. I can also get a custom 17 or 18mm spacer, if a 15mm barely clears I was thinking of going with a 17 or 18 so that if I leave the 15mm spacer on the back to save a little money, the difference between the front and rear is less. Thoughts?

3mm isn't going to change the handling in any way you'll be able to notice, so 15 on rears with 18 on front is fine.

Thanks Chris, very helpful. I have some extended studs that came with my 15mm spacers, should I generally be fine keeping these with the 18mm spacers up front in terms of adequate thread to be safe?

Heated metal expands, aluminum wheel may not be the metal caliper and rotor will.

You'll have to measure and check the amount of thread engagement. I got Eibach spacers and the studs they supplied, if I remember correctly, were reasonably long but the ARP studs I use were 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer. I think the ARP part number is 100-7708.
