Default HELP, can’t find parking brake hardware

Hello, I have looked all over google and my local parts store. Does anyone have a means to acquire new parking brake hardware? Even good condition used would be fine.

I need the hook arm and the spreader.

GM doesn't have part numbers for the individual parts. The complete service rear parking brake package is 12454994 which has been not available for many years.

Thanks for the info, what have people done when they need these parts?

Those parts come in a rear parking brake assembly, which you can purchase new for around $70. The assembly comes with the parts and new shoes.

All the ones I've seen contain all the parts EXCEPT for the lever. Do you have a reference for one that comes with the lever ?

I’ve been unable to find a set that comes with the levers.

All the kits for trucks I see online seem to have the levers, but (for some reason) I can't find the GM or AC Delco kits for the F-Body...

That's understandable, 1998-2002 Camaros and Firebirds- that's 10 models to sell to. The small GM truck based line S10 Blazer Jimmy Sonoma Bravada 2001-2005 - that's 18 models to sell to and they made/sold a hell of a lot more off those vehicles than the f-bods. Make the parts that sell the most.

Used parts for this mechanism should be servicable also and I think we've pointed that out in other threads. The parking brake isn't a wear item. As long as the mechanism is lubricated/maintained and one doesn't drive off with the parking brake engaged, the mechanism should stay in good condition.

I agree as I do that. But what if parts are misplaced/lost ?

Pic is of torn apart, degreased, acid cleaned, but before POR15 painting.

Eventually Classic Industries will pick these things up if PBR (the original brake manufacturer) doesn't put the kit back on the market. In the meantime, we need to go to the used market.

Whenever I acquire a used/salvage 98-02 rear end ( even from a V6) for my own use, it has to have the backing plates complete. For me salvageable parts are the backing plates, axles, and carriers. 98 Auburn carriers are saved, 99-02 Torsen carriers are passed onto someone in need.

I agree, however I haven’t had the stock parts in years. I’m just now putting the car back to a street configuration and need the parking brake equipment.

If you want used, try Hawk's third gen or Brock's Camaro and Firebird parts.
