She’s back on the ground!! What a good feeling to finish it up. Wheels are Apex EC7 18 x 9 ET 31. Rears 18 x 10 Et 43. I think it’s the perfect fit as far as spacing goes. Still need 285’s up front. Just have 265’s on there now. E brake was a bit tricky to make work, had to buy cables from a pre 1998 car. Originals were too long. Check.

Yes I did get them working after a few backflips. The original e brake cables were too long ( this is strange as they worked perfectly for some people) and had to buy 93 to 97 cables. They were cheap from Rock Auto. Then my e brake handle somehow malfunctioned and would not actually pull the cable when pulled up. So apart that came and it was that little ratcheting arm was not making contact with the teeth. So I actually made it work better by manually connecting it back together ( no more pivoting up and down) so now the handle engages way sooner and works good. ( before the handle would be straight up and down before engagement) can’t wait for the test drive in May.

Stock spring is too long.

brake pads are Powerstop Z23 front and back. As per recommendation from Scott at Big Brakes Upgrade.

I thought I read if you upgrade the rear calipers the bias gets all messed up and you stop funny. Is that true?

if it is what are you doing to adjust the bias?

I haven’t test drove it yet. Skiing season in full swing. Maybe someone else can chime in on this one.

Well, I finally got to test drive all the mods I did over the winter. Big brakes, 18 inch rims, new tires, and the 3 point frame connectors. So right away, the frame connectors stiffened up the car like nothing else I added so far. Holly smokes what a seat of the pants difference. I don’t know if you guys with SFC’s can attest, but man what a difference. The brakes got bed in and work really nicely. I stomped on them hard a few times after brake in and I didn’t feel any brake bias or funny dynamics or pulling or rears locking up. They basically feel like stronger stock brakes. The continental tires are kind of stiff as well compared to the 17 inch Nito’s I had on the stock rims. They are extreme contact sport 2 and definitely a sportier ride than the Nito. Over all, car feels firm and tight. Stays flat when cornering. Oh and I have zero rub in the rear with 295’s on the apex 18 by 10 with 43 offset. The fronts touch a very small area of the front of the plastic fender liner. Easy fix. So all fitment is awesome. I was worried about that. But man those SFC’s what a change they make. Cheers.

unfortunately the ABS is not working at this time. However, Scott at Big Brake Upgrade is working on a slightly different rear end big brake kit that keeps the abs. It will use stock backing plates and a slightly different rear rotor. So that’s good news.
