About to start my big brake upgrade. Bin waiting for this for a while now collecting parts. Only thing I still need are brake pads. What’s a good pad for the street? Don’t want something to aggressive that will chew up the rotor to quickly. Not to much dust also. Any suggestions? And a question for the ones who done this, any tips on drilling the calliper bolt holes in the spindles?? I have the drill bit and a nice solid hand drill. I know it sounds stupid but any tips on the drilling? Thanx.

I used Powerstop Z26 pads when I did my c7 Brembo swap and I love them. Next to no dust and great pedal feel without being super aggressive. They seem to pair nicely with the Brembo blank rotors I got as well.

Call G-LOC brakes, tell them what you want out of it and they will set you up with the right pad.

Well, that was fun!! Got one side done this evening. Went supper smooth and everything just bolted and lined up perfectly. Even drilling the holes out was easy. It’s amazing to me how 2015 race parts fit on a 2002 car so nicely. Right side tomorrow.

Oh, also installed my 15 mm HRR spacers so the rim will clear. Such nice parts.

Moving forward, I have LOTS of pad options for those. Many many, many. Seems there are some pads in there, what are those? the GM supplied pads in the OEM calipers are not at all bad for street use, in fact better than most aftermarket options, equal to some others but as is the normal, GM tends to cost more on average.

Hey there, thanx for the response. Yes those are stock pads. I won’t use the old ones. I just want a pad that’s good for street use that won’t make to much dust and won’t tear up the rotors to fast. Some of these pads are very aggressive and abrasive and chew up the rotors quickly. I don’t go to the track ( no tracks around where I live) just some spirited driving on the streets. ( rural roads ).

Thanx, I’m working on parts accumulation for the rear brakes. Have rotors, callipers, brake lines, now have to spend the BIG bucks on the rear backing plates from big brake upgrade. $700 US for that kit. But will get it done before spring I hope.

THESE ARE THE PUPPIES THAT I NEED.

Got the rears done today. Went smooth. Got the kit from BBUpgrade, and the backing plates from flee bay. Had to modify them for the kit to work. Install was easy, and everything lined up perfectly. Even did a girdle diff cover while at it.

it’s the stuff that keeps on giving. We are supposed to get a wild storm this weekend, close to 60 cm of the stuff. That’s about 2 feet in Americano measurement. Oh what fun!!

Very cool. I just ordered the same, but made the rear calipers leadign instead of trailing. What rotors did you use?

Yes it’s went supper smooth doing the fronts. Just make sure you get a really good drill bit to enlarge the calliper bolt holes.

the rear is way more tricky. For me anyway. Now that they are on, my e brake cable is too long🤯🤯. Now I have to figure that out. Worth it in the end!!

Running the rear callipers in front, or the rear. You just have to make sure the leading piston is the smaller one. so in your case the top or upper end of the calliper ( where the bleeders are) should have the smaller piston of the two. So the smaller piston receives the rotors rotation first. If it’s the other way, you will have uneven pad wear.

Freggin blizzard outside for 2 days now. So I almost finished her off today. New front pads, filled the diff with oil ( such a messy job) and put on my 3 point SFC. Bolted in like butter. I have to say, UMI makes some good fitting stuff. Not a hair out of whack. All bolts just slid on like a dream.

Poodle power.
