3rd Gen Steering Damper
ive replaced rotors and pads, shocks, steering box, pwr steering pump, tie rod ends, ball joints. Today I’m gonna replace the aarm bushings for good measure.
Was wondering if anyone has put a steering damper on a car like this? Was thinking about mounting the fixed end to my sway bar and the moving end on the center link.
Anyone think this is a bad idea? The sway bar doesn’t articulate too much at the morning point.
See picture for mock-up. Thoughts?

im not sure that’s allowed in my rules. Got to keep a stock system I think.
im going to try this and see if I can make it work.
i agree there are other 3rd Gen race cars that don’t need it. So here is the deal. I THINK my problem is fixed. I can’t know without driving it at the next track event or breaking the law and risking my car impounded for driving around the public roads.
I THINK I fixed the problem by fixing my power steering, replacing the steering box, S10 intermediate shaft, replacing aArm bushings, tie rods, ball joints, even shocks. I haven’t had a chance to get it on track since all the work.
So the backup plan is this damper mod. I hate to spend $500 for a track weekend just to freaking find out I still have a problem. It’s absolutely miserable rushing to fix a problem to find your gonna miss the next track session, and the next, and the next and by time you get it back together you catch the last session of the day to find out your problem still exists.
I HATE working on my car in the pits. I’d rather spend 100hrs in my shop then 2hrs working in the heat in the pits.

There was however a slight difference with the damper. When driving on uneven surfaces like when I touch the track curbing, the car usually jolts harshly due to the castor and camber. But with the damper it lessened that phenomenon.
