Default What does the BRAKE light mean??

My BRAKE light on my dash is on. I just took my ABS off and I have the abs inop light and the BRAKE light wasn't on but now it just came on. Is this normal or should I check something. I don't have an E brake anymore either. Thanks for any help.

BRAKE light means your parking brake is on. Taking it out probably set off the light.

My E brake has been off for over a year with no light. I just ditched the ABS recently though.

Check, is your brake fluid low?

It is correct for the BRAKE light to come on if you removed the ABS. The reason being, without the ABS unit there is no proportioning for the rear. The light shows that there is a major failure of the ABS unit (which does the proportioning) and the car is unsafe to drive.

You did put in a proportioning valve, right?

nope no proportioning valve. I've read that it is not necessary but doesn't hurt to have one.
