PSA: Aftermarket control arm failure pics inside. What can we buy these days?
So i checked my mevotech arms and they are still ok.
My buddy brought me his camaro with a front end issue after replacing everything. He used mevotech supreme upper and lower arms like I did but without window weld in the air gaps. It has some super stiff springs and anti roll bars.
The sheetmetal on his set of control arms bent at the ball joint press surface causing weird alignment issues under cornering but the car could be put into dead even alignment numbers on a rack.
Pictures attached of a 1 year old torn mevotech bushing and bent control arms at the lower ball joint mating surface.
He swears no curbs and the car shows no evidence of any curb hits etc.
Is AC Delco good? Besides aftermarket tubular what options do we have for good arms?
I read AC Delco wasnt any good either so I went mevotech. After seeing this im concerned and looking at alternatives.
The ball joints were perfect still had preload and no play but the arms bent bushings went.
New arm and bush filled with window weld Note ball joint distance and angle new vs old.checked my car and my arms have proper gaps still like the new here. 1 year old torn drivers side control arm bushing, manufacturer using garbage rubber.
I’ve never used mevotech. I only use Moog or AC Delco when replacing stock control arms and never had a problem. Most recently replaced on my avalanche with all new Moog upper/lower arms and inner/outter tie rods.
