You can use either a Dot3 or Dot4. I would try to find some ATE Super Blue. It has very good qualities and only about $10 a liter.

Where do you find that? I looked for some of it last time I flushed my brakes but couldn't find any... Do any of the national chains carry it?

Dry boiling point of over 500 degrees (532 sticks in my head, not sure why), wet boiling point of nearly 400 degrees (that is the important number in a street car, 382 sticks in my head, again, not sure that is correct). And, it's cheap. $10 a liter for excellent brake fluid. Also, you can get the ATE Type 200 which is gold in color, then when you bleed fresh fluid through the car, it changes color so you know you have fresh fluid (I've got several liters of each at home). There are better fluids (Castrol SRF comes to mind at $70-ish a liter), but this is much better than most (except Castrol and maybe a couple others) and it is inexpensive. I've run it for years.
