Hal shocks on the street
What is the stiffest setting that I can run my Hal shocks at on the street and not hurt them. The car is my only car so it is driven all the time.

well, i have the fronts on 7 and the rears on 5 or 6.........the car handles tight and i do sometimes feel or hear a "bump" up front when hitting a large bump or pot hole. (Miami streets really sucks..designed for SUV'z!!)
I think this is the highest but do your own testing............also, these shocks are rebuildable...if they go bad you could send them back and hopefully get them fixed.
Those numbers might seem high but i like the stiff ride, not a boat ride....

I normally set my rears at about 6-7 on the street to keep my exhaust from bottoming out. Going any higher than that would probrably be a really stiff ride, almost uncomfortable. I have set the rears on 12 before (found a tool box at Sears I just had to have) for about a 60 mile ride and they did just fine.

Those of you that do run them on the street how do you hook with your street settings? Is it better than stock? Do you get noticeably better weight transfer than with your stock setting?

Running the front "R" series at 1 with no front sway bar and the rears at 6-7 the car will not hook N/A below 40 mph on a cold drag raidial. Hot drag radial, rears set a 4-5 on the street the car will hook N/A out of the hole then I can hit the nitrous at about 30mph. Wieght transfer is ok but with the rear shocks set stiff on the street the power just hits the tires to hard. Much better than stock though.

with no drag radials, at 3-4 settings, the weight transfer is more "aggressive" and i start to go side ways on my 1-2 shift.....however, witht he settings at 6 at the rear, i hook hard, weight transfer is less, but on my 1-2 shift, the tires spin and i dont get sides at all. straight until the tires hook again. i noticed due to the weight transfer on the 6 setting, i lose some acceleration but i like how it just shoots straight and hard..........

Thanks for the replys guys, I just wanted to be safe and not hurt them. I was told you are not suppose to run the Hals stiff on the street so this is why I asked. I will leave them set on 4 then. Thanks
