Default Need advice on rear spring squeak.

Hey Gearheads,
I'm new the Camaro world, and a novice at car repair. Just picked up a 99 ss with 23k miles. I love this thing, but there is a chirping/squeaking sound coming from the right rear coil spring. I've read there is a TSB on this problem, and the fix is to put a rubber bushing between the spring an perch. My question is, can I do this myself? If I jack the car up will the spring become unloaded enough for me to remove and install the bushing? Or do I need some tool to compress the spring? As you can tell, I haven't gotten my copy of the shop manual yet. Thanks for any advice.

Answered my own question...ah er found it through jrb's links. The explanation is on the LS1 How to's page. As I said, I'm a newbie.

This forum is a great resource. Hopefully, someday I can contribute.
