Pull back the carpet in the rear deck area. Underneath you will see 2 foam pieces(one on each side) they are some what oval shaped. Pull them out and bingo. the top of the shock is right there.

If it's a 4th gen car, the carpet is perforated, you can simply "tear" it open, pull off the foam block, remove the shock, reinstall and push the carpet back into place. That's how I did it on my 4th gen. On a 3rd gen, you have to lay the seat down and pull the carpet up from the overlapping seam behind the rear seat, flip it out of the way and remove the shocks.

Hope that helps!

You can leave the panels in, they are not going to get in your way.

I know it's after the fact, so this is for the next guy. On the 4th gens and I think the 3rd, you can simply cut open the perforations above the shocks. Here's some good pics of the flap open and then closed.

Nothing to it really.
