Default Quick Sway Bar Question

My '94 Z28 has the FE2 suspension RPO. What size is my stock rear sway bar? Local Chevy dealer couldn't tell me.

I am at work and the car is at home and I want to let a buddy know today if I will buy his 1LE rear sway bar (which is 21mm).

Thanks in advance!

Todd

The 21mm rear sway bar was only available 1 rear ... '93 1LE

EVERYOTHER factory sway, whether it's 1LE, SS/WS6, TA/Z28 or not, is a 19mm

Hmmm... He says it's a 1LE and is 21mm, but I know it is not off a '93.

I'll have to physically measure both before buying it then.

21's are generically knows as "1LE's" even though it's not always the case. It likely is the 21 but all you have to do is measure it.

But, if you have a stock front bar on your '94, (30mm) adding this one in the back is not at all wise. And I still won't use it with a 32mm bar either (the 1 1LE that had a 32/21 combo also had 70 lb stiffer front springs in combination with regular Z28 rear springs). If you go 32/21, or worse yet 30/21 with stock springs, or heavier springs all around vs. just stiffer in front, you are just making the car looser in the back. Harder to drive fast and less stable.

The car is a drag car. Hasn't had a front sway bar at all for years. It also has V6 coils in back to take the weight transfer. I want a stiffer rear sway bar to keep the rear tires more evenly planted during a hard launch.

Then just buy the 25mm from suspension techniques. I am not a fan of the no front bar setup on a car that's driven at all, it can cause stability issues, but the 25mm will work hard to keep you "square" on the launch....

BMR makes a rear sway bar specifically for drag cars. It's a 32mm solid bar, with 5/8" adjustable rod-end style endlinks (to preload the bar), brackets, and hardware.

Yes, I already have this exact one on my '02. I'm asking in this thread about the "1LE" because that's what the friend has for sale.

I've driven my '94 for years with no front swaybar. I just keep in mind that it's not there and have no problems.

I have the ST rear bar on my '99 already. I appreciate everyone's advice, but I was asking specifically about the 1LE bar because that is exactly what my friend has for sale for a reasonable price.
