Default What pads for Brembo blanks?

I have been doing some reading in the archives and have found some good info.

I want a pad that does not make noise, and minimal dust. Are the Hawk HPS pads what I am looking for????

I have Brembo OEM blanks and Hawk HPS pads. The pads do occasionally squeek (any carbon-metallic pad will), but they aren't noisy.

Porterfield R4s's also fit the bill quite nicely for what you want.

I havent noticed much more dust than the GM OEM pads that the car came with. I think there is slightly more dust (since the OEMs are ceramic).

I had a great experience with EBC Greenstuff. Good feel and not much dust at all.

You can get Brembo OEM blanks at TireRack. They are also a sponsor here; you can find their link on the right.

Let me suggest PBR MetalMasters. You might not have heard of them, but they have been around a long time.

First, PBR is the company who makes the calipers on our cars, the Corvettes (C4, C5 and now C6) as well as the 3rd gen 1LE front, 3rd and 4th gen rear discs brakes, Mustang Cobra/Bullitt fronts, and Baer calipers too. Incidentially, this is the compound that was standard on the 88-96 Vette's.

The MetalMaster has been around for a while it's a semi-metallic pad that just works. Very similar to an HPS in outright power, but with 3 things that put it over the top. 1. They cost about $20 less than HPS's. 2. They have a little better initial bite, and IMHO better pedal feel than the HPS. 3. They are a little cleaner than HPS and will also take more temperature too.

I've run these, Hawk HPS, and Plus, Porterfield, PFC, Carbotech and a few other pads on my 2001 car. I autocross seriously and will pound the car on back roads quite often. I like the PBR's the best for driveability. There are some pads that are stronger (the HP Plus being one). But they are dirtier, and do not grab and release as smoothly.

MHO.

Sam... on your site you dont list a set for the rear and the price listed is that price a "per axel" price or a per claliper price

The price is for the front set (both wheels). PBR does not have a rear pad for the car (who knows why), so when the rears need done, we use the HPS since the friction coefficient is so similar. Also the rears are much cleaner anyway. If the rears become available, I will use them as well. But for now this is what there is.
