Default Rear Air Bag.

Do I need to install the protector for the lower spring seat to keep the air bag from tearing? Also can I squeez the protector through the "expanded" spring like I plan on doing with the air bag. Should I let the bag rest at the bottom, middle, or top of the spring. I`m sure the guys that deflate them for the street have them settle twards the bottom of the srping. Just woundering if any of you guys would know. Thanks for any help fellas.
Al

Yes, use the protector. The air stem will keep it centered. You'll have no problem slipping the protector into lower perch. Airlift bag, correct? Take the valve stem out, compress air from bag, and slip it thru open coil w/car rear jacked up and suspension "hanging". If deflated, the bag just finds it's own resting place within the coil.... WJ

Also be carefull were to route the air lines, a buddy and I put ours inside the hatch, where Ttop holders are. And I wouldn't recommend deflating the air bag while driving, keep at least 5 lbs. of air in at all times.

As I said, the air stem on the bottom of the air bag will keep the protector centered when you put the bag in place. Also, the clamp and air line will come up thru the hole in center of protector. It's easy. You should not have any problems. I used tie wraps to fasten the air line to the side of the lower control arm, being carful not to run the line where it would get pinched or wear by hitting any moving parts. Have fun. WJ

Got the air bag in. It took about a hour including clean up time.

Cool. I'd be interested in hearing back on how much psi you end up running in it, and how you find the best pressure.

I've had an air bag sitting on the workbench since November, and need to put it on the car one of these days...

Do you guys recommend on running an air bag on each side, or just one?? Which would improve straight line traction more?

The right rear tire is the one that "unloads" on launch and loses traction more easily.

So an air bag on that side is supposed to keep it planted better and even out the available traction between the two tires...

You don't have to squeeze the airbag into the spring when installing it. Simply unbolt the rear shock absorber and jack up the car and the rear leaf spring will lift right out of the car. Then just slip the rubber isolator and bag into the coil. Takes maybe 10 minutes

Only the passenger side is required. The driver's side doesn't do anything. I found it best to run at 15 psi on drag radials, and 20 psi on hard drag slick launches. On the street I would just let all the air out.
