Default sway bar mount broke. wtf?

I've been hearing a clunk when going over bumps, into driveways, etc lately. Today, I crawled under the car with a flash light and found what's making the noise. The driver's side sway bar mount is snapped. The bolt that holds it together is hitting the edge of the broken mount, causing the thump.

Has this happened to anyone here? Seriously, wtf? The car isn't beat on hard at all.

I searched in the camaro parts cd for a pn, but the one listed didn't show anything on GMPD. Anyone happen to have a current pn/price.

It happens. It's not a surprise or uncommon for an autocross car to have that happen. I know you're not doing that, but if you have fun with the car, it can happen.

jim mueller had his break. he might still have the part number for it. he broke the bracket that bolts to the frame. the sway bar bracket then bolts to that.

i own a 94 ta and just replaced mine from summit racing. they sold me the energy suspension stuff for the whole sway bar. the sway bar ends cost like 13.95,and the center supports that go to the frame cost about the same. my driver side bracket snapped it was original with 75k miles on it. they just break after a while. real easy to replace if there not rusted a little.i highly recommend a propane torch to heat up the bolts and or nuts for 25 to 35 seconds or so should do the trick, and off they come.summit tells me the prothane ones are not s good as energy susp. good luck with it if you have questions email me at biggreek31@yahoo.com... laterzzzzz
