Default STB Install Question

I got my strut tower brace installed without any problems, but I noticed after torquing everything down that the passenger side mount buckled a little and caused the powder coat to crack. Is this normal, and will the powder coat still stick on there?

I got an slp, stb and the powder coating didn't crack, I don't think it's normal, but this won't effect the handleing performance.

Never heard of anyone having a problem with the mounting plate, it may not effect anything but I'd see about returning it for another one. BTW, if you're going to keep it I would use touch-up paint on the crack or it will rust.

That is totally not what I wanted to hear...man that sucks...just my luck. I even torqued everything to the right torque.

I have a BMR STB, and I haven't had any problems like that. I've had mine off the car several times also.

Definitely return it for a new one. Tell them you followed the instructions as told (like STB's are tough to install anyways), but that cracking mounting plate is not acceptable and is a manufacture flaw.

I should post a pic. You can only see the cracks if you are right up on it. The manufacturer is good...I just think that the powder coat was a little thick and it flexed a little. It seems like a big PITA to pull the thing off now and ship it back...ugh.

I would just return it, it is only a STB..not the hardest thing to take off and put on really.

I would be happy this didn't happen to some K-members or something that is not fun to install.

I think some of you might be confused on what he said, the powder coat cracked, not the brace, not that big of a deal. The paint must have been to heavy or didnt stick to the item for some reason.

Should you return it, its up to you if it looks bad just have them replace it for another one I am sure they can strip it, repaint it and put it back in stock. But cracked paint isnt going to let the item fail. Good luck
