Default Do rotors affect brake dust?

I just replaced my rotors with a set of slotted and cross drilled rotors and I noticed that my wheels have a lot of brake dust on them. Before they didn't have very much at all, just a small film. The wheels look almost black and its only been 3 days.

I guess I'll have to go and pick up some different pads if it gets worse

The slots and holes will "scrape" the pads and very well could cause more dusting.

Absolutely. The slots are the main problem, since it wipes the entire pad face as it passes. This scrapes the friction material right off. When I changed to slotted rotors, the same pads that lasted well over a year including a few track runs were worn to the backing plate in one weekend at the track. The pads were 16 mm thick and were installed the weekend before along with the Power Slot rotors. I had a hell of a time cleaning my wheels after that mess.

I figured it was those slots. Ok so now for a dumb question, is there anything I can do about it? Will it get better over time or is it always going to be like this?

Non slotted (and non drilled) rotors.

I know these don't increase braking performance but they look nice and I just got them. I guess I'll put up with it for a while and if I can't stand it I'll put the old ones back on

Thanks guys
