Default Finished line lock install!

...and I LOVE it! It was the basic SJM kit. They make a really good kit. Very easy install. It took me two hours taking my sweet *** time to do it, wiring and all. The hardest part was reaching behind the brake booster to install the grommet for the wire on the firewall. I still need to bleed my brakes a little bit better, but I got rushed for time at the end, 'cause my shop was closing. I'll do that tomorrow.

I already have "tested it out" quite a few times, the most interesting of which was at the O'Reilly auto parts on the local strip, where a friend of mine works. A coworker of his (read - ricer) told me that even with a line lock, I couldn't do a good burnout. I showed him. I filled up the parking lot with about a football field's worth of smoke, with it rising at least 100 feet in the air, and when I rolled out, I burned out the ENTIRE length of the parking lot (about 150 ft). Needless to say, his jaw dropped.

All those without one, get a line lock, they make doing a burnout 110% easier. Great for those among us who drag race a lot.

nice little burnout from the sound of it buying a line lock is only asking for trouble. might want to start saving up for some extra tires now. Money well spent tho...if you ask me! I'll be getting one myself for my b-day coming up in May.

Ricers I've got the Hurst kit, works awsome. Good self control keeps me from destroying my $200 a piece GS-D3's, but at the track all bets are off to the Nitto DR's. Lighting them up from a stand still in 2nd, good stuff. Like to see a ricer rip a burnout starting in 2nd shift to 3rd all while staying in the same spot.

I got the Hurst Kit from Thunder Racing. The pre-bent lines are woth the cash in themselves. The wiring harness that you have to get is crap. It burned up my first unit, bought that part from a local speed shop so they replaced that for free. After that, eliminated the wiring harness, but kept the fuse in line though. Works like a champ now, haven't burnt it up since.

I took it out to the track last night, and the crowd really loved it. I could damn sure tell a difference in the launches on properly heated tires. I went from my best/worst runs being more than a second apart to running between 12.9 and 13.2, and the two 13.2's I ran were because I was babying it off the line, I wasn't sure how hard I could launch it. If I had been trying to, I could have been between 12.9 and 13.0

The first burnout I did, I held for about 15 seconds. The duals just sounded too good at 4500 rpm with tire smoke hiding the car.

Line locks kick ***. I'll try to post a vid as soon as I can get one.

THanks for your comments Jet. We do feel our B-001 kits are the best value on the market today. We've been manufacturing them for years with many folks satisfied with their purchase. Many think after installing them "how did I live without one".

Not only are the fun to use making smokey show burnouts, they do keep your brakes/calipers lasting longer since you no longer have wear our your rears during burnouts.

If anyone has any specific concerns or questions, feel free to e-mail us directly at sjmmanufacturing@verizon.net

Steve is a great guy, answered all my questions, and generally took the time to explain the product to me. Definitely would do business with him again. They have awesome customer service.

SIDE NOTE: I went back to the O'Reilly's today to get some parts for my fiance's Saturn, and they told me that the rubber from my burnout was still there! I looked, and the place where the car's tires were sitting had two 2x6 chunks of asphalt torn out of it, with 50 ft of rubber leading off towards the exit. This is after almost two weeks of torrential rain! That might explain the fact that my brand new passenger side Nitto almost has the center worn out. No more burnouts at street psi! The co-worker said that the cloud of white smoke hung around for about 5 minutes.

110% difference??????????????
in what just the fact of not haveing to use your left foot for the brake and the clutch....or the fact that the rear brakes are not stoping you from spinning........if so how much easyer is it on the car doing it ??????????????????

The fact that nothing is stopping the wheels from spinning mostly. I've heard that it's much easier on the car, mainly the brakes and axles. I'm spinning over ET Streets now, so I'd imagine they'd try to stick once they got warmed up.

Again, if you drag race a lot, I'd highly recommend one. Take a look at what steve10 has to offer. I assure you that you'll be satisfied with your purchase. I sure am.
