Default Abs Inop Light??

Hey ya'll I was at my local drag strip today and began to do my burnout when the "abs inop" light came on and sort of locked my brakes. I couldn't do a burnout if my life depended on it!! Does anyone know why this happens or did I mess something up?? TIA

If the ABS Inop light and red Brake light are both ON, then the ABS unit is completely shutdown. No ABS, no TCS (if you have the option), and no brake proportioning. It usually takes a major problem in the ABS unit to shut everything down, or several less major faults.

Done any mods to the car recently?

Did you go from 273 gears to 342 gears? If so did you swith to the thicker abs ring? If not that could be your problem. I just had the same thing happen to me. I am taking it back to the shop in a week to have it fixed.

Yes you will need one that is .50 thick for the 3 serries. The 2 serries is only .25 thick. You can get it at the dealership. Just tell them you need a abs ring for the rear end abs sensor for teh 3 serries.

You don't need it. The ABS reluctor ring is only installed on the differential's ring gear if you don't have ASR/TCS, since those cars only have 3 hydraulic circuits and 3 speed sensors. Cars that have ASR/TCS have reluctor rings installed on each axle shaft near each rear wheel. ASR cars have 4 hydraulic circuits and need to measure each rear wheel speed individually for traction control events. Since you have ASR you don't have a speed sensor in the diff housing and don't need the ring gear reluctor wheel.
