Default Upper panhard bar?

Am I missing out on a "normal mod" or is this a bad idea:

Recently I've come across a couple 4th gen F-bodies running around without the upper PHB. Is the lower PHB more than enough to keep everything in place? I've been playing with my '94 for years and just now recently saw a couple guys that had done this. Have I been missing out or are they doing something potentially unsafe?

Note: both cars are drag cars. The owners are way more concerned with going in a straight line than carving corners, but both cars see some street time.

If GM could have saved even $1 per car, times several hundred thousand F-bodies, don't you think they would have?

It supports the mount for the lower PHB. I'd leave it right where it is.
