I have a 96 formula. doing lots of mods.
and would like to know if you can just upgrade the front brakes and not the back. May be a dumb question i dunno.
My new wheels will be 18x10.5 rear 18x9.5 front
And if so what kind of brakes do you guys think would be good
Thanks

Sure ya can. You want the front brakes to be more powerful anyway as the car will pitch forwards under heavy braking and allowing the front wheels to generate more grip.

If you do a major upgrade to on front or back. Your brake gain bias will be off. Ie. Your fronts will lock up a good 10 Ta 20 feet before your back. But if you can't afford front and rear. I recommend upgrading the back and putting a proportioning valve in to make it equal until you can afford the front. But make sure there isn't a stock valve first. Adding a valve inline with a stock can cause major problems.
