Default Torque arm bushing pre-load plate?

I've got one of those BMR torque arm relocation trans-crossmembers... its got a clamshell deal that clamps the poly torque arm bushing to the crossmember. The kit came with an aluminum plate that goes in there and i guess puts pressure on the bushing... If I take it out... will it soften it up some? I'm looking to decrease the "shock" that gets transmitted to the interior sometimes, I realise that softening the bushing up may cause a little more wheel hop, but if it'll make things smoother inside, i'm all for it.
