wanting to lower 3/4-1"???
I have read about taking something out of the rear springs (can't remember what it's called, and don't know what it is or looks like) and putting in a peice of heater hose? Also heard something about cutting the front springs (still on the car) and want to know how to do this? Is there a guide or wedsite with instructions and pictures for any of this? If you can't tell I am clueless when it comes to suspension, but don't want too big of a drop that all the lowering springs seem to give (car has factory ground effects) and trying to get out cheap too.

rear, jack the car up and remove the spring.
on the top of the spring, there is a rubber hat... remove it.
put the heater hose on the spring, making a full coil.
Install spring back, and you are done.
As for the front, I would not suggest cutting the springs... I'd suggest using Koni SA shocks and using the lower perch location.

To cut the front springs while on the car requires some pretty good fab skills, it sounds out of your range. You should only use this technique to lower the front a little, like 3/4" at most.
There is no real cheap way to lower these cars without making a lot of compromises in ride quality.
