Default Pro Fab k member is going in this weekend- can i get bolts from home depot?

Hi i am going to install my Pro fab k member this weekend and wanted to know what grade of bolts i need to replace the 4 that are shorter than stock. Should i get washers and lockwashers? When i called pro fab a while ago they said grade A or 8 bolts. Is that right?

Here is a post on the size i need:

Is this info correct? Can i buy the bolts from any hardware store?

When i have my charge pip fabbed up i will have the fabber make me some brake line brackets. Does anyone have any advice before i start? The motor is out of the car so no worries there.

Just put mine in yesterday, I used grade 8.8 hardware store bolts (12mm something X 50mm), the only 12mm bolts they had but I ordered 4 of the short bolts that go in the rear from GM and I'll swap them when they show up. They are 10.9 and have a nice washer built on.

Mine went right one, no problems at all. It was an older one and had holes for the stock brake line brackets and I was able to turn them over and just bolt them on.

Always run at least Grade 8 for anything on the chassis or suspension. May not be the cheapest, but it's better than snapping some Grade 5 crap.

I took some grade 10.9 12mm 1.75 40mm + 50mm from work. Am i safe in using the 10.9's?

Thanks,
Greg

grade 10.9 is what the factory bolts are rated. I personally would not use anything less than the 10.9 (Grade bolt) in the k-member. I think 10.9 is something like 150,000 psi. If your looking for the exact same bolt the name for the bolt is ( Hex-Flange, Grade 10.9, Silver-Zinc, pitch ?, length ?) I can't remember the pitch or the length.

I installed the K-member on saturday but my haynes manual didn't have a torque spec for the 6 k-member bolts so i torqued them to 100 ft lbs. Is that too much? Not enough? The install was really easy since i didn't have a motor in my way. I will definitely need a allignment and have no intentions of trying it myself. I do need some brackets made for my brakelines but the car won't be on the road until fall anyway so i am not in a rush. Oh BTW i went with some 12mm 1.75 X 40mm grade 10.9 bolts and grade 8 washers. Here's a link to some pics:

Looks nice, no clue on the torque spec, I just made mine real tight. It's not like you have to worry about snapping a grade 10+ bolt.
