torque arm relocation kit?
#42
Hi
If you have a Spohn tranny mount torque arm and it interfears with your aftermarket Y pipe (and/or tunnel brace), you can turn the unit around and put the adjuster at the top. The bracket on the differential has to remain in the original orientation. Unbolt the arm from the differential bracket and just flip it around (adjuster to the top). It will give you lots of clearance and it works perfectly. I did it and it works great. The only disadvantage is that the adjuster is harder to reach on top. It's a simple solution and it works. I got my unit set to minus 1 degree and it hooks up nice. Big improvement in handling also. At least I am driving the car now and if I decide I want the relocation cross-member for BMR, I can add it later and flip the arm around then.
Thanks JA

I didn't want the tunnel mount TA because of clunking and ground clearance issues so I went with the spohn tranny mount TA. Their TA does a great job but is a terrible design. The lower bracing goes way too far forward, more that necessary. It was hitting my Y so I had to then get the cross member relocation brace. I'm a bit worried that when I go with headers and a new Y, I may still not have enough clearance. If I had to order another TA, I'd go with Global West tranny mount, probably the best available IMO...

i have no more road noise than i did before. and yes mine hangs about 1-1.5 inches lower than stock. before the lowest point on the car was the ypipe and now it is the trans cross member. pissed me off becuase bmr didnt say this when i asked them they said there was barely a difference. but now its about 0.75 inches lower than the ypipe and before i had a lot more clearance from the trans brace

Hello Members,
Just wanted to let you know we are currently working our own design of transmission cross member with torque arm relocation. So far it is a nice unit and we are keeping ground clearnance issues at a minimum, shooting for no clearance to be lost, I will know more shortly as we get it installed and tested. So please keep us in mind.
Also there is no noise issues with our tunnel brace mounted torque arms.
Thanks for the time,
Ryan

sorry to hijack...
I just ordered the UMI adjustable tranny mount TA...was that not a good choice if plan on running atleast 500 to the ground on spray at the track. I dont want to put unwanted stress on the tranny. My car is low to and thats why I didnt get the tunnel brace set up.
