Default Subframes DO make a difference

Wow, just had mine welded in. They're BMR replicas made from stronger race chassis tubing. I got used to the way the car had felt for 42k miles before them and now the SFCs make a huge difference. Local guy from our club welded them in for me and I could tell a difference in the way the car feels as I simply backed down out of his driveway.

To anyone who has a t-top F-body and doesn't have SFCs yet, give them a shot. You can pick them up for $150 and get them put in for $50. They tighten the car so much and give it a more solid feeling. Great money spent in my opinion.

Agreed! anyone who does any kind of spirited driving/race'n with our cars wants Subframes weld'd to their car. I couldn't believe the difference having mine on vs no subframes.

Now just imagine what it feels like when you get a 6pt welded in.

I have been thinking about getting them. But what exactly is tighter? Right now I can think of about 10 things that I can spend 200 on that will make my car faster :0

The only way to describe it is that your car feels more solidly put together. You don't feel the twisting and flexing that these cars do when you push them or just drive over a simple speedbump. I guess you could say it feels and rides more like a go-kart. Definitely made my ride smoother, the car is more responsive, almost "feels" heavier, and just more solidly planted. You can feel the suspension working instead of the body and you taking the brunt of impact.

I've got rid of the squeaking sound in my 98 Z with BMR subs with a more solid feel And handling in the turns at high speeds.

If the car twists, the metal of the frame fatigues. Eventually it will be quite ragged out. The chassis is the one piece of your car you can't replace. It basically is the car.

Your sig makes me want Z06 wheels....again.

Oh yeah and I need SFC's, but I need my LT's and TD's put on first.

Yeah, I think that is indeed the best way to describe it. The car feels heavier in terms of staying solid and grounded, but not slower. If that makes any sense.

Just imagine riding in your car, and how it feels it terms of the ride quality when cruising, going over bumps, or going through twists. Now imagine any nicer, better built car that you may have ever ridden it.

It's really hard to describe. But I know that I felt it as soon as I backed out of the driveway of the guy that welded mine in. He has a steep driveway and as soon as I was backing off of the incline and onto the flat street again, my car didn't feel like it used to. It felt more solid and kept together better, like a stiff go-cart (good analogy).
