Default Rear allignment

Hi,

I was just recently in an accident were the rear of my car bounced off a curb and i had to replace a couple of things. After it was told to me the rear was properley alligned and the axle was straight, I still seem to notice my right tire sticks out a little more than my left tire on the rear of the car. Is this how it is supposed to be or is there something wrong?

Thanks,
Chris

Check to see if your panhard rod is bent. If it's significantly bent that would act as if it was a shorter bar, and pull the rear end to the right.

I replaced the panhard bar with a new one after it was bent in the accident

Is the new one adjustable? If so, you'll need to shorten the bar by rotating it.

You may have bent one of the mounts for the PHB. I'm guessing the frame side on the passenger side of the car. Check the upper phb and see if it is bent (kinked) more than usual where it runs under the exhaust. I bent one of those once myself.

No to hijack, but even with a adjustable panhard, how can you make sure its centered? Where do you measure from?

You would prolly just have to eye it when adjusting it. I would check the mount for the panhard bar, that is what most likely is bent. good luck with the problem.

Plumb bob and a tape measure.... or alternatively the "water spot test." Hose down a section of driveway and slowly roll straight through it to see if your front and rear wheels are tracking properly through the water.
