Default Adjustable Panhard rod?

Hey guys. I just installed a double adjustable UMI Peformance Panhard rod with QA1 ends.

I lubed it up.. installed it.. centered it..

When I shift my car (m6) there is a LOUD HARD CLUNK like a trans mount is busted but it feels like the rear end making the noise.

It didnt happen before the install and happend IMMEDIATELY after the install.

Everything is tight.. do these panhard rods do this?

It SUCKS *****!

I am gonna swap out the panhard rod and go back to a stock one.

It is embarrassing when I tap the gas next to another car and all you hear is CLANK!

Well, check the basics. When you had the bar off the car, were the rod end bushings firm or did they have a lot of slack in them? Once you adjusted the length, did you tighten them down? Is the new rod hitting or rubbing something nearby?

When you apply power the rear will want to rotate as well as move forward. The panhard bar is stressed very little to none at all under acceleration. So something doesn't sound right. If you can't see an obvoius cause, swap the stock one back in and see if the noise goes away. Panhard bars in general are pretty quiet, so I suspect something else is making the noise.

hmm MAYBE the trans mount cracked/broke at the same time?

Someone else brought up that if the jam nuts arent tightent to the fullest extent they clank ALOT.

I will use Loc-tight on them and see if that works.

But first I will swap out the umi for the stocker and see what happens.

thank you for the feedback though.
Definately some really good advice

Locktite only makes sense if you think the bolts came loose. I doubt they did in such a short amount of time. Loctite should be used, though. Tighten the LCA's as well.

It shouldn't clank due the jam nuts under acceleration, but if they were loose and you rock the steering wheel left and right, it might.

Breaking a mount at the same time is unlikey, but you never know. It's worth a check.

No hard feelings here, I am just glad you found the problem.
