TA relocation crossmember experiment I've got a BMR torque arm relocation crossmember. I was fairly happy with but I have little to no tolerance for noise/vibration. The crossmember as it was wasn't too bad. It would clunk sometimes under hard braking or accel and rough roads would rattle the inside a little...
But I thought I could make it better.
I got a roll of rubber insulated tape from Home Depot and went crazy. I took the aluminum spacer plate out and replaced it with 2 layers of tape, then i put a strip of tape across the whole length of the bushing bracket, slit the tape where the bolt holes were. Then i bolted it up to the crossmember good and tight.
I then put a strip of rubber tape across the mounting brackets that meet the floorboard once again, i slit the tape for the bolts to go through.
So I insulated the ta bushing/bracket from the crossmember and the crossmember from the car and thunking and noise are completely gone and rough road vibration is much better.
