Depending on what you want sub frames are for strengthing the cars chasis and eliminating interior rattling noise. If strenght is what you want then i suggest Boxed. If Clearance is you prefrence then go with tubed. Theres lots of companies that sell subs and they are probably all good I have Hotchskis boxed subs on my T/A and they are welded on, you cant even see them unless you get under the car. They eliminated lost of noise rattle to Id go with Hotchskis they are one of the best out there

Look at the ones made by UMI which is a sponsor. They have a nice staff too. I have been in contact with them lately.

They have boxed sub frame connectors for 139.99.

I was gonna ask the same question but i decided to search first and your posts was one that i came across, but after looking further and searching more, to me it seems they are all about the same. Everyone was saying all of their brand names of sfcs and all of them were happy with them. Im just gonna look at a few brands and kinda compare the prices i guess.. Im sure you can get some red ones but you may not be able to see them at all.

Im sure by welding them in would make it more rigid, but i read of some bolting of sfcs and they say they could weld them in also if they wanted. What do you mean by where do they go? Are you wanting to see if you can see them on the car? the sfcs connect the sub frames together, they run from front to back under the car on the sides almost under the driver/passenger seats. Sorry if that is not what you meant

if i remember right, i think weld-on ones are cheaper than the bolt-on version

and if you want strength and clearance, i think Spohn makes tubular chrome-moly sfc

yea most of the weld on ones are MUCH cheaper , So between buying the welded and getting them welded you probably break even between welded and bolt on

get an engine hoist and pull it out the top

i think the the SFC welds onto the the subframe which is kinda part of the body, what you would have to remove to get the engine out is the K-member which is not welded to the SFCs

someone correct me if im wrong, ive never pulled the motor, or had SFCs put on, yet

Im problly the only person on this forum with the Jegs ones. They are boxed bolt in cost me $170. I just put them on this weekend and it was kinda a bi*ch. I had to drill holes up front and the Y pipe was in the way and i had to un bolt that to get a right angled drill in thier (Hope u have one) and on the passanger side i had to unbolt the the pipe up at the exhaust manifold. On top of that were u have to drill in the side of the frame thier was another piece of metal thier and tightining the bolts was a another story and just put it this way i will never be able to unbolt them. All said and done they work awsome no rattles nothing hiting no noise just a much firmer ride. They only weigh 12.5 Lbs each too.

That's not a concern. The motor is bolted to the K-member, and the subframes are welded to the front unibody subframe. I have a writeup on dropping the engine out the bottom (thanks Cal!) if anyone's interested. Unfortunately no pics on that yet. Maybe once I get the new website up and running... I've been a slack *** lately.
