Default AutoX

Hey everyone, Im new here. I want to setup my car for autoX. I have Subframe connectors and LCA's, a PHB and a strut tower brace. I mistakenly got the non adjustable poly LCA's and PHB. My question is what should i switch to? (rod end/rubber/poly combo)

Also I need to go for some new shocks, what do you all recomend for AutoX. Any other suggestions to improve handling will be apreciated.

Thanks

If the G2's are to much you could go with a QA1 setup or a Koni setup as well.

Might help to talk to someone who autocrosses, and does so at a high level, and with some success......

Sam's definitely a good source to call. However, before you call, you should familiarize yourself with the rules of your series. If you're running an SCCA sanctioned autocross, know what mods are legal for each class. If you get semi-serious about this, you may find yourself swapping out some mods and swapping in others to optimize the car for a particular class. The SCCA rulebook is on their website in pdf format.

With an fbody in autoX, you have the best chance of being competitive in the F Stock class or ESP (E Street Prepared.) If you do many mods to the car, you quickly wind up in SM (Street Modified) where you can get eaten alive by the competition. Or worse yet, wind up like me in CP (C Prepared) where you run against dedicated race cars. But it all depends on what you want and your situation. In my area, there is actually less competition in CP than SM, and I love to mod the car, so it's a good deal for me.

With your subframe connectors, you are already in SM, but you may have fun there anyway and your rear body panels will thank you.

Do give Sam a call though. He knows what parts work for this type of racing and which ones don't. He will get you set up right without wasting your cash on parts that are overkill or that you just plain don't need.

Just go out and get some seat time amd like said before learn the rules. The subframes put you into CP which is a very fasr class. The STB doesnt do squatt and I would loose it. The biggest thing to make your car fast would be a set of r compound tires like some Kuhmos 710's. Then a set of good shocks and springs, then sway bars. Just have fun and get seat time.

Probably the best thing you could do is get some race driver training for yourself. That's what I plan to do here in the next month or two. From what I've heard, I can improve my time more by improving myself....better than any mod you can do to the car.

Then, of course, after you're driving properly you can mod like crazy.

Naw, SFC's put you in SM, not CP (as long as you don't tie them together in the center with a non-stock piece.) But I totally agree with the rest of what you said. Seat time, and do an Evolution driving school. Get help from other seasoned drivers; have them ride with you, even drive your car while you ride along. Yes, good tires like these Kumhos or Hoosiers will help WAY more than any other mod. But the suspension mods will make the race tires wear better and last longer, especially if you put the tires on the right wheel width. And no, a 17x9 wheel is not wide enough for a 275 tire. Ditto on the STB; just adds weight to the car; worthless as **** on a bore hog.
