It could possibly be the street itself. Some roads around where I live feel like I'm drivin on a layer of oil. I spin at half throttle. Others just grab and go.

how cold is it where you are, are you driving on ice?

on certain pavement i can roll into the throttle in 4th at around 3k and start spinning, others i can punch in first and just GO.

the hypertech is only useful on 100% stock cars. other than that its worthless.
im sure that the transmission shift firmness settings are set to the highest.
which means once u get it spinning its gunna keep spinning.

but to say that u spin well into OD, that is ridiculous. first off you would have to REALLY be trying or u dont grasp the concept of drag racing...

Depends on the street. There was this one uphill concrete onramp that I'd brake torque it up to 3000rpms, get a little smoke going, let off the brake and floor it. Would smoke the tires all the way to 3rd gear, then I'd **** myself because I was spinning the tires at 80mph at the end of the onramp where it curves. I had some pretty crappy Sumitomo tires with no tread when I was doing that though, but those same tires would hook at the top of 1st at the strip and on certain roads.

Stop rubbing cooking oil all over your tires. But seriously, I can not comprehend you having that much of an issue with traction. It must be your tires. Get some rear tires!!!

I plan on gettin something soon, and i kno hypertech is gay, it came with the car....
Ive never been to the strip, i was hoping to go tomorrow but i guess thats not happening. The car will spin in half of OD, the wheels hop at not even quarter throttle, half or more and they jus spin

Maybe you should pop the hood and see if that car doesn't have a ZZ572 in there....... spinning the wheels in over drive would read over 150 MPH, that would be impressive but unlikely. Stock motor doesn't have the guts and stock 4 speed auto would take a vacation. Who knows though.....

forgive me if i'm way off base but...you do realize that when put the car in "OD" it still starts in first right? are you talking about spinning half way through the first gear or spinning through three and a half gears?

i think you should be worried about the suspesion before buying and more go-fast parts, that wheel hop is a killer...

just a couple of my cents.

My vote is for 235's and a bad posi.

Or maybe some joker threw an open diff with 4.11's in there.

I'm not an idiot lol, i know it starts in 1st, it goes through 3 and a half. Its a pretty much stock a4 and it breaks loose at a 40 roll, its sad that the tires are that bad.

Or maybe his tranny is slipping something horrible

Post up a vid guy... There ain't no way your spinning tire through 4 gears in a 2.73, or even 3.23 geared car.

Edit: I'm not calling you an idiot either BTW. Just have SERIOUS doubt that a stock Z28 is capable of roasting tire like your describing.

Wrong. At least in my a4 in 3rd gear I ran out of gas at 120mph and that was with the gas pedal pushed all the way down.

I know I've read some other owners say? they get more then 120mph in 3rd gear in an a4 but thats not the case with my car.

generally caused by a higher numeric gear set..

Yeah, if 120 is all you get in 3rd i'm guessing you have 3:73's because with my 3:23's at WOT (with the shifter in OD) the trans will shift into 3rd around 130ish. I guess I need a set of those nasty 3:73's and HP III then because I can hook great on the street and pull 12.9xx at the track on stock rubber, you must be running mid 12's right??
