Default spin and spin and spin and spin and spin..................

I cannot get any traction at all. I have a 98 z28 a4 with catback hypertech and an airfilter. If i launch at a stoplight it will spin through every single gear, and sometimes grabs halfway through 4th. What can i go to get a little traction, and will it be diferent at the drag strip. Oh btw i have bfgoodrich comp t/a's all around on stock 16x8 rims. < prayin to get some new ones soon lol

Yup, you just need some sticky tires and you'll be set.

Learn to feather the gas when you start spinning.

Feather the gas? What does the hypertech give you as far as hp and torque? I plan on getting some kind of sticky tire when i get my tt2s< I know everyone has em but i like the look.

hyperteck gives you hp. I will bet any amount you lost hp using the hyperjunk i mean tech. Should sell that thing and get a real programmer. As for you spinning stop mashing the gas, work the throttle and give it just enough gas to not spin. As the car picks up speed, push the pedal down more. Its that simple. Oh and 275 drs will help quite a bit too..

ok heres an update. I just raced an SRT-4 (besides the point) and on my shitty 235s i barely spun and it whipped a little at the top of first, but second was a chirp then a dead hook, on the street, i dont think you should be having a problem unless you got bald *** tires. oh yeah and i whipped his *** even while hitting the rev limiter cuz this bitch wont shift into 3rd.

4th eh...you mean OD? You have an A4.

I find it HARD to believe that you spin all the way through half of OD. You'd be voted the best burnout king on this site. You shouldn't really be putting stress on the OD pucks anyways. 3rd gear in an A4 is good for close to 150mph. If you can put down over 150mph of wheel speed coasting down the street, and keep it straight, I'd have to ask you "How'd ya do it!?", of course then I'd have to ask who's Pro Mod motor you stole.

I had terrible wheel spin with my stock 245's and pretty much stock engine and it got worse with eninge mods. Then i got smart, power is no good if you can't get it to the ground. First up was shocks and springs then LCA's then subframes and finally some TT'2s with 275's. Now if i don't rev it and dump the clutch i can actually make it through first with no spin and and second just chirps and squats. Its a total night and day difference. I would start with LCA's and subframes if your on a budget you should be able to get both for about $200 and the car will launch much straigter as well.

If you force the wheels to spin (what it sounds like your doing) your not gona get traction untill you ease off the gas and let the tires catch up. I can spin my car through 4th, but trying to do that is just dangerous. Relax and dont try to rip your shifter off your tranny.

I second the suspension upgrades. The LCA's made a huge improvement in my Z putting the power to the ground rather than going up in smoke on my 245's. The stock suspension components are cheap and flexible. Invest in some aftermarket components and you won't be sorry.

I've got over 550 hp at the wheels and don't even have traction problems like that. Stock 17" wheels wrapped in some bald DR's with the chords showing. I've got a video of it too.

Something doesn't sound right. If you just hit the gas and think it's going to hook up sometime down the road, you are not driving the car well at all.

Try feathering and rolling into it easier. I drove a friend's stock '98 t/a with the original 7 year old tires; same wheel/tire combo you have, ragged it pretty hard....still nothing close to what you are describing.

you probably got it revved to high when you launch. i know the feeling i launched my lt1 camaro at around 2 grand and spun the whole 1320. after that i had to luanch at idle and this was on 275/35/zr18's. i don't even bother getting my rpm's up in my ls1 i can spin the tires at 60 mph. mainly the tires but damn.

With my all stock suspension and tires i had to launch off idle. Even if I brought the rpms up to 1grand the tires would just light up.
