cleaning rotors???

Default cleaning rotors???

i just replaced my pads and rotors in july and was wondering if i should clean them with brake cleaner???? i leave my car outside so when it rains they rust. i have duralast rotors from autozone. will brake cleaner get the rust off???

I think that you're trying to clean the centre of the rotor itself or its vents, which could work with brake cleaner, however, there might be no difference in wear or heat dissipation characteristics when you clean the rotor. It's your decision, however my experience with brake cleaner hasn't removed much of the rust from those areas.

Just drive the car. You will probably hear a slight squeeling for 10 miles like I did on mine. It is the brake pad slowly grinding down the rust as you drive........Then they'll look good.
