Default Wheel Hop?

So after switching to 18's w/ 295's I have a tendency of sever wheel hop occuring. I though this was just do to uneven pavement?? Sometimes it hops sometimes it doesn't, what exactly causes this, pinion angle?, and what steps can I take to eliminate this??

A good aftermarket torque arm, along with lower control arms(lca's), and some lca relo brackets and you'll be good to go.

I agree with musclehead, but the most important of those three things is the TA. Same thing happened to my car with the Factory Z06 wheels and 295 Pilot Sports.

The lower profile tire made it worse on my buddies car when he put 18's on, he just got some umi lca,s , relocation brackets and a umi torque arm with the crossmemeber mount and he does get any more hop !

Yes, 18's are not good for these cars for several reasons. Seems to be a little known fact that I had to learn the hard way also.

Do you mind explaining what the reasons are?

Thanks!

Well if you stay with something close to the stock tire height, around 25 inches, (25-18)/2 = 3.5 inches left over for sidewall height. That simply isn't enough sidewall on the back end of a rear wheel drive car to optimize traction. Especially such a car with a live axle. Not enough sidewall compliance. It hurts your launch in a drag race, and it makes it hard to put down power on corner exits in autoX and road race. On the street it makes the ride needlessly rougher. It adds weight to the tire/wheel combo which hurts in all applications. Even tires for them are more expensive. There is nothing good about them for our cars, except the bling factor.
