Default Bolt-In subframes...

Does anyone have bolt-in subframe connectors? I can't find a place in Grand Forks that will weld a set in, so I'm wondering how much worse the UMI bolt-ins are as compaired to the boxed weld-ins. Anyone know?

Bolt in's are fine. Besides, the cross bracing is much better than the straight boxed connectors (only good for drag racing).

I use the SLP bolt ins myself and will be doing a little study to see if there is any relative movement next summer.

I'm running the competion engeniering bolt in's. I got them from summit for $175. There the cheapest bolt-ins that i've seen which is why i got them. There is no cross brace with them but they are boxed.

Same here. I love em. Besides, even bolt ins can be welded as well.

Hello,

Both our bolt-in versions are a very nice set-up and work well. Also both at anytime can be welded if desired. Our 2-point tubular bolt-ins can actually be installed in less then 20 minutes and the 3-points in 45 minutes.

If you have any questions please ask and I am glad to help.

Thank you!
Ryan

I am guessing that the 3-point SFC's will not work with a convertible will they?

If you are very heavy into drag racing and the vehicle is putting down a great deal of power I would recommend the weld-ins, although either set-up will work excellent. Our tubular style 2-points are very nice as well and will hold up to what ever you can put to them. Either one would be a great choice and I assure you won't be disappointed.

If I can help anymore please ask, thanks!

The boxed ones are nice as jacking rails. You can put a jack under the middle of the car and lift the whole side of the car up NASCAR style. I change all four wheels twice at every autoX race and this makes it much easier.

I have SLP subframes bolted in and welded...when I jack one side, three of the wheels lift. Pretty damn stiff if you ask me...

Yeah that's what I have, SLP SFC's welded in. The UMI boxed SFC's might be good also though; I have never really seen them. No doubt SLP's are stiff, but they are a little on the heavy side.

I have the UMI 3 point bolt ins, and it made a huge difference in the feel of the car, feels more like one piece now, I'll probably get them welded eventually (friend has a TIG welder) but for the time being they're working fine with just the bolts.
IMO a very worthwhile mod

Good to hear, thanks for all the comments. I've been having trouble finding a place to weld in the boxed ones, so I may have to go with bolt in. There is no place in Grand Forks willing to weld them in, not a small shop, not a muffler shop, nothing. Nobody even knows what a SFC is, lol.

Yeah, I have, I'll wait a couple more days and see... Otherwise I think I'll probably go with the 3-point bolt in. UMI's look to be much better build quality over SLPs, not to mention lighter weight.
